Hundreds of applications poured into the Edmonton Humane Society from those seeking to adopt a trio of Saint Bernards. The dogs—named Gasket, Gunther and Goliath—are “bonded,” meaning they experience anxiety when separated and must therefore live in the same house. The “gentle giants” captured the attention of the nation, and within a few days they’d found a forever home in Calgary.
Gasket, Gunther and Goliath were relocated somewhere safe, but hundreds of animals are still stuck in the limbo of shelters. Especially since the seizure of more than 500 animals from a local pet store, EHS shelters have been overloaded; for this reason, they frequently have events, offering animals at reduced adoption fees.
